Police to record fresh statement of Tanushree Dutta
Dutta had lodged a complaint against the Patekar, Acharya and Siddiqui with the women’s commission on Monday.
Mumbai: The Oshiwara police will record a fresh statement of actress Tanushree Dutta, in connection with the sexual harassment allegations, which she claims took place in 2008 during a film shoot. Dutta had submitted an application to the police alleging misbehaviour and harassment at the hands of actor Nana Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya and producer Samee Siddiqui during the shooting of a song sequence.
The process of recording her statement will be done by Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, officials stated. A decision on the FIR will be made based on the details of the statement and the findings of the inquiry following her complaint letter, police said.
Meanwhile, the women's commission has also issued notice to the trio after Dutta sought their intervention. The women’s commission has shot notices to the trio and have also asked for a report from the Oshiwara police seeking details on the probe they have carried out in the case since Dutta submitted a complaint application.
Dutta had lodged a complaint against the Patekar, Acharya and Siddiqui with the women’s commission on Monday. The commission has also asked Dutta to be present in person to present her side of the story to the commission. “We had approached the women’s commission and lodged a complaint with them and the commission has issued summons to the trio,” said Nitin Satpute, Dutta’s advocate.
Meanwhile, the police are tightlipped on whether statement of anybody accused by Dutta in her complaint letter has been recorded as yet. After receiving her complaint letter, they confirmed that the application and its allegations would be investigated.
Dutta alleged that Patekar misbehaved during the shoot of the movie in 2008 at a studio in Goregaon. The official said that the actress had approached the Goregaon police with the complaint after workers of a political party attacked her car.
The application started that the police did not take any cognisance of her complaint on harassment. She has now sought a case in the incident and action against the trio. The police have stated that the inquiry into the complaint has begun.
