The Mockumentary drama AK Vs AK directed by Vikramaditya Motwane starring Anil Kapoor in an IAF uniform has gotten the Indian Air Force wanting to down the intruder for “inaccurately” wearing the uniform and using “inappropriate” language.

The trailer of the film has actor Anil Kapoor sparring with director producer Anurag Kashyap in a war of words where Anil is also seen wearing an IAF uniform. In a tweet made by the Media Co-ordination Centre of the Indian Air Force, they state, “The IAF uniform in this video is inaccurately donned & the language used is inappropriate. This does not conform to the behavioral norms of those in the Armed Forces of India. The related scenes need to be withdrawn,” tagging Anurag Kashyap as well as Netflix India in it.

The trailer broke the internet on Monday and came in for some flak from people who seemed they were taken for a ride whether the fight between Anil and Anurag was for real.

It is interesting to note that another film which premiered on Netflix and angered the defence forces starred Anil’s niece and actress Janhvi Kapoor called Gunjan Saxena. The case is now in court.

A web series on Ekta Kapoor’s platform Alt Balaji had also invited the ire of army personnel earlier.

In view of those incidents the Defence Ministry based on grievances about the representation of Indian Army personnel and those in military uniform in an “insulting manner,” urged producers of movies and web series with army themes and characters to obtain required NOC from the Ministry of Defence before the telecast.  We wait to see what action is taken now that the film is ready for release.
