Father's Goodwill won't bring work: Bobby Deol

Race 3 is set for an Eid release.

Bobby Deol tasted stardom in the 90s. Gupt gripped the interest and imagination of the audience like no other thriller film had while the title track of Dillagi was on every teenybopper’s lips. But over time, the actor’s appearances on the big screen became infrequent as he took a backseat from acting to figure out what one needs to do to stay relevant. Relying on your father’s goodwill surely isn’t one of the things for as Bobby, son of superstar Dharmendra says, “It never happens like that. Till date, no one has gotten work because of that. No one gets work because of the goodwill of their father, because people are spending money on you, what will they do with the goodwill?”

The actor explains his belief further by saying, “They take you in a film because they feel you deserve to be in the film or you are required in that film. If people start casting me because of my father’s goodwill, then I should be in all the films, because my dad has amazing goodwill with everyone. You have to stand on your own feet. You can’t take your family’s help all the time. It doesn’t work that way; you have to face the world on your own.” Bobby, who is now looking at reviving his career, will be seen in Salman’s Race 3. When asked if he took his stardom for granted in the beginning, Bobby says, “I never thought of myself as a star and no-one will believe that. I just didn’t want to think like that. I was always normal, but I wish I had realized that, because times are changing, you have to keep motivating people and I stopped motivating people. Hence, they stopped looking at me like that.” The Soldier actor is bent on making up for lost time. He says, “I am going to fight and never give up. I just want the love and appreciation of my fans.”
