Mumbai: Sara Ali Khan, the third generation from the Pataudi family and daughter of Saif Ali Khan & Amrita Singh talks about her childhood being raised by single mother and more…
What qualities you imbibed from your parents?
I am mix of my parents just as them. I am crazy like them. The way my father thinks - he balances and takes his decision. I am emotional like my mom. I get attached to any one like mom, though it takes some time for me to get attached to anyone. But hum adhe adhure nahi judte hai !! [I do not get attached half heartedly to anyone]
What was Saif's reaction on your decision of joining Bollywood?
My father has been very supportive and we have had our ups and downs. My both parents have always been supportive from the very beginning. They have been in the industry for some time and they know that everyone has ups and downs. Even if I play a ball they will like it. They are curious that people should see me. They are going to love anything that I do.
You resemble a lot with your mother in Betaab…
It's a big compliment that I am being compared to my mom. But every time I am complimented I feel so happy because my mom is really pretty.
I was protected a lot because I as with mom. It's been 13 to 14 years that my parents are divorced. As a single mother my mom cushioned me and my brother Ibrahim because she was protective. I have never missed anything. Whatever I asked for she gave it to me. I never knew what it is not to get anything. But mom now says that what I want now she wants too but she can’t give it to me. That hurts me a lot because she can't give it to. The chocolates that she provided us with were not what I wanted. I want her to give me more now but I realize that she can't help me now. I shopped for clothes in Shankar Market. Even in Hyderabad I shopped in Charminar market. I am not a spendthrift at all. I never like to spend more than Rs. 1000/- on a Kurta.
How was it like celebrating Rakhee with Taimur Ali Khan?
It was fun celebrating Rakhi with Taimur. He gave me Rs.51. It is fine as he is small.
You debut film Kedarnath went into trouble. How did you deal with it?
I was sure that everything will be alright we worked hard and with lot of honesty. I didn't know what would happen. I was 80% sure but 20 % was not sure. I loved working on the film. I cried a lot. I was scared that the film won't be completed. I wanted to work honesty and entertain people. It makes no difference whether you want to see me crying in the mountains or dancing with Ranveer Singh on a Neha Kakkar song. But the film is finally releasing. Please watch both the films.
