Manmohan Singh will not see his own biopic?

The former prime minister is caught in a piquant situation as the film projects the party and the high command in a poor light.

It can’t get any more ironical. The Accidental Prime Minister, the much talked-about biopic on former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, won’t be watched by the man himself.

And there’s good reason for this. While the film portrays him in good light, it makes his party, the Congress look like a villainous caucus.

A source close to the Congress says, “Dr Singh is caught in a strange situation. The film is in his favour but against his parent party. So he won’t offend Sonia and Rahul Gandhi by showing his support for a film that allegedly insults them.”

Sources say Anupam Kher who plays Manmohan Singh has requested the real Dr Singh to watch his reel version. The offer has been politely declined.

So vehemently opposed is the Congress to the film, that it has been banned in all Congress-run states.

Unconfirmed reports say the Dr Singh may publicly disown the film as a “pack of lies”.
