Bigg Boss contestants mauled
An interactive session with the public turned to be a horrifying experience for Bigg Boss contestants, as Hina Khan, Shilpa Shinde and Vikas Gupta, the three finalists on the ongoing reality show were mauled. On Thursday evening, the trio was taken to the Inorbit Mall in Vashi (Mumbai) for a meet the fans event. Except that the “fans” turned into fanatics.
While the marketing team of the Colors channel says the situation never escalated to a crisis point and was brought under control, eyewitnesses report that the situation was far worse than it was officially being made out to be. An eyewitness says, “It was pure pandemonium. Vikas, Shilpa and Hina were jostled and pushed, heckled and taunted. Anything could’ve happened. In fact one of the three contestants was manhandled.” The shaken contestants were whisked away to safety before any serious damage was done to them. However, it is not uncommon for fans to lose control and get physical with celebrities especially at malls where several actresses and even actors have been groped and molested in recent times.
A leading male star who had a huge hit last year narrated how at a mall he lost his bouncers and found himself in the middle of a loud aggressive crowd. “Suddenly I felt a firm hand grabbing my crotch and squeezing hard until I winced in pain,” says the star.
As far as the incident involving the Bigg Boss contestants is concerned, it seems the channel’s marketing strategists had underestimated the popularity of the contestants. “We had no idea Vikas, Hina and Shilpa were so popular. We would have certainly made more elaborate security arrange-ments if we knew,” explains the source from the channel.
