Spring is here and breaking from the monotony of pastels, bright hued dresses are back in vogue. Recently, Deepika was spotted in a multi-coloured dress at the pre-Oscars party. Also, the recently-concluded London Fashion Week was filled with many bright fluorescent shades. While basic black will forever be a wardrobe staple, wearing colour can do amazing things for your skin tone, hair, and overall appearance.

“If you’re wearing a multi-coloured dress, keeping your accessories and shoes subtle would be the best way. You could go for a bold lip and no accessories to let the prints be the highlight. Also, make sure that you have neutral-coloured accessories and shoes to not take away from the outfit,” says celebrity stylist Shreeja Rajgopal adding, “For a night look, you can opt for a bold lip colour depending on the colours in your outfit. If it’s a brunch or a day look, then go soft on your make-up.”

Meenakshi Pamnani, a fashion blogger, suggests accessorising your look with a boho jewellery piece. “Use black or tan colour for shoes and bags. You can try to accommodate gold or silver too in the look. For make-up, keep it very subtle and nude,” she says.

However, famous stylist Nandita Mahatani thinks that there is no harm in mixing and matching. “Tone down the accessories and go simple with a classic pair of nude stilettos or white sneakers — let the colours do the talking. For a fun and bold look, you can match your shoes and clutch with any one colour from the outfit. Less is always more,” she says.
