Radhika Apte keeps it simple

Radhika Apte is a confident young woman. In an industry driven by vanity, Radhika remains unperturbed by the pressures that surround her. Looking stunning at Lokmat Maharashtra’s Most Stylish Award, the actress admits to dressing up only to events and premiere shows.

“I always believe in comfort. Basically I don’t normally wear anything that’s difficult to carry,” she says. Does she look up to her contemporaries for their sartorial sense? “I really like Deepika, Priyanka and Sonam. They dress up really well. They experiment with a lot of things. I think Kangna does a lot of experimenting too,” she adds. So what defines Radhika’s style? “I don’t take that pressure of looking good all the time. I only dress up when I have to go for premiers or some award function. If I’m going somewhere with my friends I just wear casual clothes. I don’t use make up usually,” admits the 31 year old. That is why Radhika is bothered by our obsession with fair skin. “We have come a long from being extremely obsessed with fair skin, but still have a long way to go. I mean we are still using fairness creams and that’s saying a lot. I too have lost out on a role due to my skin colour, but nobody said it to my face. Still, I know that they were looking for a fair-skinned actress.”
