Krishna Raj Kapoor, the wife of legendary actor Raj Kapoor, died at the age of 87 after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday. Her last rites were performed the same afternoon in Chembur.
The Kapoor family matriarch, born Krishna Malhotra, was the sister of popular Hindi films actors Prem Nath and Rajendra Nath. She married Raj Kapoor in 1946 and is survived by five children – sons Randhir, Rishi and Rajeev and daughters Ritu and Riima.
Several members of the film industry took to Twitter to express their sorrow at the news of her demise.
Actress Raveena Tandon, wrote, “Condolences to the entire Kapoor family. An era passes away,#KrishnaRajKapoor .God give you strength,and may the soul rest in peace. Om Shanti. @chintskap (sic)”
While Soha Ali Khan remembered her as an “incredible personality full of life and passion and with never a hair out place”, and Farah Khan called her “the most beautiful lady of our industry”.
Rishi and Neetu Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima also shared a picture of her grandmother while paying tribute to her.
