As actor Rajkummar Rao gears up to essay the role of a physical training (PT) teacher in his upcoming film Chhalaang, he talks to us about another time he was a trainer at a school in Gurugram. Recalling his small stint as a dramatics teacher, Rajkummar tells us how he chose the teaching job over a call-centre job.

“Call centres had just started coming up in the city and a lot of my friends had joined those jobs, but I was not really good with language,” he says.

He also shares that the only thing he had in mind back then was to earn some pocket money as everyone else he knew was earning some extra money. “I was doing my college second year then and decided to do what I love doing, so I joined a KV school in Gurgaon Sector 14 and did a play for their annual-day function. I quit the job after three months because I began focusing on myself and upskilling myself,” recalls the Stree actor.

Just like in Chhalaang, where he plays the most loved teacher, in real life too, according to Rajkummar, he is the students’ favourite. “Students loved me because in the second year of my college, the students and I didn’t have much age gap between us. So they treated me like a friend,” says the actor.
