Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has always been critical of her own work. After over 20 years in the film industry, she says that she still feels like a newbie.

“That’s the student in me speaking – I still feel like a newcomer. To me, the director is like a teacher. And when you believe that, magic happens on set,” Aishwarya says.

Throughout her career, the actress has taken on glamourous roles as well as experimental ones with equal ease.

“Knowingly or unknowingly, I have always offered my audience a mixed bag of work. After Devdas, people wanted to know what my next big project would be. And when I said that I was doing Choker Bali, they said they expected to see me in a huge blockbuster. But I thought Choker Bali would be a huge Bengali film, and it was,” she says.

Aishwarya will be seen next sharing screen space with her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, in Gulab Jamun.
