Padmaavat box office: Magnum opus crosses 150 crores, hits double century worldwide

There's no stopping the Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus at the box office, be it domestically or abroad.

Mumbai: There’s no stopping ‘Padmaavat’ at the box office, be it domestically or abroad.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus, which had taken an excellent start at the box office in the extended opening weekend by crossing Rs 100 crores, has managed to hold well during the 'make or break' weekdays.

After close to Rs 30 crores coming on Sunday, the film fell only marginally during the weekdays, collecting in the Rs 13-14 crores range on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday has not been much different either.

With Rs 12.25 crores coming in, the movie has almost crossed Rs 150 crores, as it stands at Rs 149.50 crores, according to Box Office India.

Add these collections to USD 12 million (Rs 76.24 crores) collected from overseas markets in the opening weekend, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has not just crossed the Rs 200-crore mark, but stands at more than Rs 225 crores.

The figures are brilliant considering the film has completed a week at the box office, though Thursday collections would be included in the final week one numbers.

It’d be interesting to see if the film goes on to join one of the highest grossing Bollywood films of all time.

‘Padmaavat’, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, has surely emerged a winner after facing numerous battles, namely protests from fringe groups and censor board hassles.
