Deepika reveals she was molested at age 14, her reaction to it will make you laud her

The actress reveals why her parents always had faith and belief in her when death threats were issued against her.

Mumbai: ‘Padmaavat’ has taken a brilliant start at the box office, but forget the success, even the film’s release was uncertain till the end of last year.

Rajput fringe groups had gone on a rampage against the film for ‘distorting facts’ about their 'queen' Padmavati, and many went on to issue death threats against Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The lead actress was provided extra security, and had to reportedly make entry and exit at events from different points than the others.

But Deepika, at no point, fretted and had even said that fear is not an emotion she identifies with.

And mind you, the actress was just like this close to two decades ago as well.

During a recent interview with India Today, Deepika was asked how concerned her parents were during this turbulent phase before the release. She replied that they always had “faith and belief” in her and went on to narrate a horrific incident, “I was 14 or 15. I remember one evening my family and I were walking down the street. We had probably finished eating at a restaurant. My sister and my father walked ahead and my mother and I were walking behind. And this man brushed past me. I could have, at that point, ignored, pretended like it didn’t happen. I turned back, followed this person, caught him by the collar – I was 14 – in the middle of the street slapped him and walked away.”

She added, “From that day on my parents knew that I could take care of myself.”

The actress also had the most hilarious reaction to the bounty on her head and the chopping of her nose. “My feet are a tad too big. I like my nose but you can take my feet,” she exclaimed.

This incident reinforces the fact that she was completely deserving and the most perfect choice to play the brave character of Rani Padmavati.
