Eating challenges in the city show no mercy to those who are slow at the table. If you often find yourself staring at your friend’s plate after gobbling up your own meal, these outrageous challenges across city restaurants are your best bet. From copious amount of sugar in the tea to an extra large burger, there is a challenge in every bite. Here are some challenges for you to sink your teeth in.
Bao Gobble, Foodarto This Bao is wow Bao is an Asian delicacy, which is a milky soft steamed bun. It has super delicious filling inside topped with homemade sauces. The challenge is simple explains Gaurav Sharma, the owner of Foodarto, “Bao is a new dish and we wanted to spread awareness about what bao exactly is. Bao Gobble, is a bao eating competition, spread throughout the month in batches. Each batch will have six contestants. The participants are expected to finish a plate of bao in two minutes. Each plate contains five baos. The candidate will have a veg and non-veg plate to choose from. Everyday we will announce the winner who will receive either cash prizes, booklet, gift hampers or a free bao every month. Cover charge: Rs 500
Khade Chamach Ki Chai, Soda Bottle Opener Walla Sugar-rush Mohit Balachandran, the brand head says, “The tea challenge is more of a fun component for the restaurant. The tea has so much sugar in it that a spoon can stand upright in the glass without resting. It is a single person challenge without a set time limit. For anyone who completes the challenge, the tea is on the house (priced at Rs 60). We get two to three patrons every week across all our outlets. Irani cafes are all about their chai and we decided to give it an extra sweet kick.”
Triple X Challenge, Zoo Bar Can you eat this beast Nishant Joshi, the owner explains, “We have a couple of challenges lined-up for the coming months. They are both alcohol and food-based challenges. We have a pizza challenge where the competitors will have to finish a 25-inch pizza that weighs about 3 kilos in 30 minutes. There will be a burger challenge too. The burger weighs about 1.75 kilos and has to be finished in 30 mins. The winners get free beer worth Rs 2,000 or a brunch free.”
XL Burger Challenge, The Little Door If you polish off the plate of the XL burger in less than three minutes, then you win yourself a whole month of free beer. Bhuvan Narang, owner of The Little Door says, “It’s a fun thing to see people finish up our XL Burger in three minutes. We have about three to four people taking up this challenge each week and the winner gets free beer for the rest of the month. Besides this we also have some minute-to-minute beer challenges where patrons are expected o finish 25 shots of beer in a minute.” Cost of the burger: Rs 330
