Youth stabbed to death by robbers in Delhi
A young businessman was stabbed to death by five to six robbers in central Delhi’s Kamla Market area on Sunday night. The entire incident, which took place on Sunday night around 11 pm, was caught on the CCTV camera. The two accused, identified as Rehan, 25, and Adeel, 26, have been arrested by the police.
According to the police, the incident took place at about 11 pm when the victim, identified as Raheel Usmani, was walking towards his home in Kamla Market after parking his Wagon R nearby. “When the victim was walking towards his home, five to six men first called him and then attacked him with the motive of robbery. When the victim resisted, they stabbed him at least seven times before escaping from the spot,” said the police, adding that “the passersby gathered at the spot soon and one of them informed the cops stationed in the police post about 50 metres from the spot.” While one police team rushed the victim to the hospital, the other tried to chase down the absconding criminals. The victim was declared brought dead by the doctors. His body has been sent for an autopsy.
Investigating officials said that the victim’s purse, mobile phone and laptop were missing from his possession. “On the basis of CCTV footage which we procured, we identified two assailants and they were arrested within hours of the crime,” said the investigating officials.“ “Two persons have been detained and are being questioned,” he added. The police has also recovered the robbed mobile and wallet in the case.
The police said that the victim ran a mobile shop in Greater Noida and usually used to come back in late hours. A case of murder has been registered at the local police station and further investigations are on.
On Monday morning, the family members of the deceased and other locals gathered outside the police station to protest the increasing crime in the area. “This incident took place just few metres away from the police post. This shows how unprepared the police has become,” said an angry protester.
