Normal traffic resumed on Sunday, after heavy snarls affected traffic for two consecutive days in almost every part of the city. All diversions placed on various stretches around the venue of the Art of Living’s World Cultural Festival will be called off from Monday onwards.

According to the Delhi traffic police, on Sunday only a few calls about traffic jams were received by the control room.

The traffic police received calls of slow traffic from Subhash Nagar, S.P. Mukherjee Nagar and on road from Wazirabad to Ashram Chowk. Traffic on Vikas Marg was hit due to a protest called by jewellers.

“No calls of traffic congestion were received from the World Cultural Festival. There was no traffic congestion because cars with valid entry passes were allowed to enter the parking are of the cultural festival. There was no traffic congestion because of the weekend,” said a senior traffic department officer.

“We tried to keep a smooth traffic flow amid two mega-events that were hosted in the city during this weekend. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to commuters due to diversions,” said the senior officer.

The traffic police said that all traffic diversions would be called off from Monday onwards and normal flow of traffic will be maintained.

Rohit Bagga, who was commuting from Majnu ka Tila to Kashmere Gate, said, “I got the information about a religious possession that was moving on Ring Road from radio. Every day I am stuck in a traffic jam on this stretch due to various reasons. No policemen were seen on the roads to control the situation.”
