A 25-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her apartment in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka Sector 19 area on Tuesday night.
A 25-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her apartment in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka Sector 19 area on Tuesday night. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.
The deceased, Renu, had reportedly married Prashant after a courtship of four years and was a mother to a two-year-old son. Her body was found hanging inside a room at 10.30 pm after her husband returned home from work.
“Renu’s husband kept ringing the bell, but no one responded. He called his wife on her phone, but she did not answer as well, although he could hear the phone ringing inside. When Renu did not respond, he had to break into the house. He went to her room and found her hanging from the fan. He made a PCR call and rushed her to the hospital where she was declared dead on arrival,” a senior police officer said.
During investigation, Renu’s mother told the police that her daughter was happy with her marriage and had spoken to her around 9 pm. She alleged that Renu was murdered as she could not have committed suicide.
Following the incident, the police initiated an SDM inquiry into the matter and also detained her husband for questioning.
