Wanted murderer is arrested
A 34-year-old man allegedly involved in several murder cases, including a triple murder in Meerut, has been arrested from Northeast Delhi’s Jaffrabad area, the police said on Saturday.
A native of Meerut, Nigam Tyagi is a wanted criminal in Uttar Pradesh and had a cash reward of '5,000 on his head, a senior police official said.
The most recent murder case that he was involved in was of one Pradeep Tyagi. Pradeep, who was Nigam’s contender in the upcoming panchayat elections at Saroorpur village in Meerut district, was killed on October 19, the police said.
“Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid near tentwala school in Jaffrabad area of North Delhi and apprehended the accused,” DCP (northeast) Veenu Bansal said.
The police have recovered a semi-automatic pistol with two live cartridges from his possession, the police added.
