Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) member Vijender Gupta on Wednesday alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal government has put the ambitious and highly-beneficial “Land Pooling Scheme” of DDA in cold storage out of political motivation. He said that the government has deliberately not acted on pushing the scheme since it came to power 15 months back.
Mr Gupta further alleged that since the scheme has been prepared by the Central Government, the AAP Government has not taken it up. Mr Gupta said that the scheme has a potential for providing 20 lakhs houses to Delhiites. “The worst sufferers of the government’s inaction are the people belonging to the weaker sections,” added Mr Gupta.
Mr Gupta said that due to high-handedness of the Delhi government, the Central government scheme for providing housing at such a large scale is not being implemented. He demanded immediate steps for implementation of the scheme. Mr Gupta informed that he had raised the matter of land pooling in DDA’s meeting but the Delhi chief secretary could not give a cogent reply to the queries.
All members expressed their dissatisfaction over the response of the Delhi government. Mr Gupta pointed out that despite repeated reminder from DDA, no response has been received from the Delhi government till date.
