Vijender Gupta: AAP government has utilised only 30 per cent funds

A day before the start of the Delhi Assembly’s Budget Session, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta alleged that the Kejriwal government has only able to utilise 30 per cent of funds allocated.

Mr Gupta said that the AAP government had failed miserably to deliver its promises with regard to infrastructural development such as building roads, bridges and schools. In fact, it has been able to utilise only about 30 per cent of the allotted funds, he added.

“Now, the Delhi government is claiming to save in terms of expenditure and promising to utilise the unspent plan funds in the next financial year. This is a sad commentary on the efficiency and planning po-wer of the AAP government,” added Mr Gupta.

The BJP Legislature Party on Monday decided to “expose” the AAP government’s failures during the meeting of the three BJP MLAs including O.P. Sharma and Jagdish Pradhan.

“The BJP will expose the AAP government’s lies on FM channels on its claim to save on construction of infrastructural development like construction of roads, bridges, dispensaries and polytechnics. It says the cost of a flyover has been reduced from Rs 325 crore to Rs 200 crore, that of a dispensary from Rs 5 crore to Rs 20 lakhs and of the polytechnics from Rs 14 crore to Rs 8 crore. It is illogical to say that since it is a ‘honest’ government, it has saved hundreds of crores of rupees,” said Mr Gupta, the Leader of the Opposition, pointing out that when the work order is issued, there cannot be any going back on it.

Mr Gupta asked the city government to exp-lain if on one hand it is claiming to make such huge savings, why it is proposing to increase VAT and other taxes.
