While meeting a large number of students and parents on Sunday for their pressing demand of reservation and preference for local students in Delhi University admissions, former Union minister and MP Vijay Goel said that the new National Policy of Education Draft Report also supported his demand for eligibility test after Class 12 for college admissions.

The BJP leader will meet Union education minister Smriti Irani on this issue.

While addressing the gathering, president of Delhi Management R.C. Jain said, “It is very painful for the citizens of Delhi if their children are not able to get admission in colleges and courses of their own choice in their home state in spite of getting more than 60 per cent marks.”

“The problem is particularly acute for the girl students belonging to Delhi, as their parents are reluctant to send them out of Delhi for higher education. Therefore, most of the girls who do not get admission in Delhi are compelled to discontinue their studies, including students from poor families,” he added.

Students present on the occasion expressed problems faced by them during admissions.
