Udit Raj alleges Delhi CM anti-dalit
Calling Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal anti-dalit, BJP Lok Sabha member from North West Delhi Udit Raj alleged that in its two Budgets the Kejriwal government has denied the mandatory constitutional Plan head “Funds for the betterment of dalits”.
Mr Raj said the Kejriwal government, despite being in office for over a year, has not presented any working plan for the dalit community.
Mentioning that the Delhi government’s total Budget estimate is Rs 46,600 crore for financial year 2016-17, and out of which Rs 20,600 crore is Plan budget, Mr Raj said that according to the Scheduled Castes’ population in Delhi, the allocation should have been Rs 3,460 crore, but the actual outlay is Rs 715.17 crore.
“It is a denial of almost 80 per cent, and if it is calculated in percentage then it is 3.52 per cent. The Scheduled Castes are bereft of housing, sanitation, water, employment, entrepreneur opportunities. The lower side allocation of the Budget demolishes the whole edifice of the Aam Aadmi Party that it has to do with common people,” added Mr Raj. Criticising the Delhi government, Mr Raj alleged that it is has been perpetually denying the Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan (SCSP) funds and that not only is the allocation dismal, but even whatever is kept aside is not being spent.
“In financial year 2014-15, 23 per cent of the funds was unspent. The Budget estimate for financial year 2014-15 was Rs 709.87 crore, but only Rs 545.96 crore was spent, which means Rs 163.91 crore has lapsed. Thus total denial of SCSP in last six years is Rs 17,298.53 crore,” said the Lok Sabha member from North West Delhi.
He claimed that the dalit community, which reposed great faith in Mr Kejriwal in the 2015 election, today feels cheated. “The dalit youth denied proper education and employment facilities in Delhi feels shocked to see Mr Kejriwal hopping around the country trying to sell dreams to the dalits and other youth. After Delhi, he is trying to mislead the dalits of Punjab, but the dalit community of Delhi will not allow him to succeed,” he said.
