A two-day-old baby girl was found abandoned and wrapped in a cloth bag near South Delhi’s Munirka Flyover on Tuesday night. She is currently under observation in AIIMS and the search for her parents is on. She was discovered after some people heard her cry.
“The infant was found in a bag by a passerby on the footpath under the flyover in Sector 5 of R.K. Puram. He made a call and our team immediately rushed there and rescued her,” said a senior police official.
The baby was abandoned in a grocery bag and it seems that she had been left to die, the police said. “She is a miracle child and she managed to stick her neck out of the bag which helped her survive,” the officer said.
According to AIIMS authorities, the infant is in “stable” condition. The staff of R.K. Puram police station is taking care of the newborn.
