A 19-year-old youth, who escaped from police detention, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Outer District on Thursday.

A 19-year-old youth, who escaped from police detention, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Outer District on Thursday.

The police said the youth was identified as Vinod Singh, a dancer, who was detained for questioning by staff of Prem Nagar police post under Aman Vihar police station for allegedly molesting and harassing a girl living in his neighbourhood on Wednesday evening. When the parents of the girl and the youth were being questioned, the youth, on the pretext of relieving himself, managed to escape.

“On Thursday morning, the youth was found dead on a railway track near his residence in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar area,” said a police official.

However, the victim’s family alleged conspiracy over his death. But the police suspects it as a suicidal death.

“A security guard spotted Vinod’s body at Nangloi railway track on Thursday morning, it seemed he was mowed over by a train. The body has been sent for the postmortem,” the officer added.

Vinod was a Class VIII drop out and used to attend dance classes as well as work in a plastic factory as a labourer. He was in a relationship with a teenaged girl who lives near his house in the same locality. The boy and the girl were in a relationship earlier.

Family members of the deceased alleged that the police is making false claims.
