Students ill after having mid-day meal
About a dozen students of a Delhi government school fell ill after eating mid-day meal in northeast Delhi’s Seelampur area on Tuesday evening.
The police said that the call about the incident was received from Jag Parvesh Chand hospital where the ailing students were admitted. While five students were discharged after preliminary medication, rest are still recuperating.
A few hours after consu-ming the meal, about a doz-en children started complaining of stomachache and vomit. The school aut-horities immediately rush-ed all of them to the hospital. The parents also gathered outside the hospital and alleged that the mid-day meal served were often bad. On the other hand, the school authority said that the students fell ill due to bad weather and there was no problem with the meal.
“We have registered a case and further investigations are on,” the police said.
“We have sought details from the doctors to ascertain the cause of ill health and will take action accordingly,” said the police, adding, “We have registered a case under relevant sections and further investigations are on.”
