The Delhi government will conduct a day-long special drive across the national capital on Tuesday to check cars sporting CNG stickers, after it received several complaints that fake markers were being used by commuters.

The second phase of the odd-even scheme began on April 15 and CNG-run vehicles are exempt from the odd-even rules of the car-rationing scheme.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by transport minister Gopal Rai at his official residence in Civil Lines area on Saturday.

“The government has decided to run a special drive across the capital on Tuesday to check cars bearing CNG stickers and take strict action against those found using fake stickers,” Mr Rai told reporters.

The transport minister said such offenders will be booked under Section 420 of IPC and a penalty of Rs 2,000 be imposed under the odd-even scheme.

The government will distribute 1,000 monitoring kits and randomly check cars, he said, adding, they have appointed a nodal officer in this regard, who is an official of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL).

Meanwhile, owing to numerous break-down of DTC buses, the government has decided to review terms and condition agreement with bus-manufactures companies — Tata and Ashok Leyland — which sell their buses to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
