Sex CD case: BJP, Congress question AAP’s stand

The Delhi BJP on Friday questioned the contradiction between the stand of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leader Ashutosh on former minister Sandeep Kumar’s sex CD.

The Delhi BJP on Friday questioned the contradiction between the stand of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leader Ashutosh on former minister Sandeep Kumar’s sex CD. The BJP said that while Mr Kejriwal is proudly claiming that he has removed a “rotten fish” from AAP, Mr Ashutosh is vehemently defending the sacked minister in his blog. The leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, asked the CM if he approved of Mr Ashutosh dismissing the episode as a case of two adults engaging in consensual sex. Mr Gupta also questioned Mr Ashutosh’s stand that why should the act be linked to the character of the man and the party.

“It is strange that Mr Kejriwal boasts of his quick reaction to the immoral act when his co-leader is defending it. Ashutosh reflects the ideology and policy of AAP. If he draws parallel between Sandeep Kumar on one hand and Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Ram Manohar Lohia and others on the other, it shows the bankruptcy of AAP think-tank,” said Mr Gupta. Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said that the article written by Mr Ashutosh has not only destroyed the fabric of the Indian culture but also of Indian politics.

Meanwhile, Delhi Congress leader Jaikishan termed as “absurd” ex-minister Sandeep Kumar’s statement that he had been implicated in the case because he was a dalit. He said that a dalit’s tag does not empower him to exploit women for gratification, and when got caught, play the dalit card.

Targeting the CM he said when the CD had come 15 days back “why didn’t he take action instantly and remained devising strategy to shield his favourite minister”. He said that only after the lieutenant governer took cognisance of the matter did he remove the minister.
