A 68-year-old woman was found strangled at her home in West Delhi’s Paschim Vihar on Thursday evening. Prima facie the motive appears to be robbery as the woman’s house was ransacked.

The victim has been identified as Krishna Devi Arora. The woman, who did not have any children, lived alone on the ground floor of her house ever since her husband’s death last year. She had rented out the first floor of her house. She used to be in constant touch with her nephew, Chinnu, who ran a grocery store in the area. Chinnu usually had his lunch at the victim’s house.

However, due to work overload he could not make it for lunch on Thursday. Around 4 pm, he sent one of his employees to bring lunch from his aunt’s house. When the employee arrived at Arora’s house, he found the door wide open. On entering, he found the house ransacked with the woman lying dead on the floor.

He immediately informed the police. A team arrived at the spot and found the woman woman dead. There appeared to be strangulation marks on her neck.

The police has constituted teams to crack the case. They have started questioning the victim’s tenants, neighbours and relatives. However, no breakthrough was achieved at the time of filing this report.
