SDMC tells engineers to fix and smoothen roads
Showing zero tolerance towards potholes, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has directed its engineering department to undertake repairs where needed.
The engineering department has been directed to ensure that not even a single pothole is visible on the roads and that the repaired roads must be smooth as per prescribed standards.
The direction was issued after an SDMC inspection of the Nanakpura ward, one of the 13 wards where upcoming municipal bypolls will be held.
In an attempt to make work visible, senior functionaries of the civic bodies are making regular rounds of these 13 wards.
Stressing upon the need of proper maintenance of the roads under the jurisdiction of SDMC, mayor Subhash Arya and standing committee chairman Radhey Shyam Sharma instructed the department not to tolerate any lapse in the maintenance of roads.
“The maintenance work should be continued throughout the year on the basis of monitoring being done on the status of the roads.”
In a clear direction, Mr Arya directed the engineering department to immediately undertake repair work where it needed.
They also instructed the officers concerned to clear the debris accumulated on the roads without any delay.
Mr Sharma instructed the officers to comply with the orders and report on the completion of work within a couple of days, adding that the SDMC residents deserve advanced and the best civic amenities.
