Run scheme sans penalty, says BJP

The Delhi BJP has challenged chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to run the odd-even car rationing scheme for seven days without imposing any penalty.

The Delhi BJP has challenged chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to run the odd-even car rationing scheme for seven days without imposing any penalty. The reaction came after Mr Kejriwal said that the BJP wants the odd-even scheme to fail. Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said that the BJP certainly opposes financial bungling and inconvenience to the people and, if needed, the party will appeal to the people to oppose the scheme.

Hitting back at Mr Kejriwal on his tweet that the RSS and the BJP were working against the scheme, Mr Upadhyay said that Mr Kejriwal’s tweet game is coming to an end. He said: “The last time we had raised questions against bungling in the name of civil defence and today we demand inquiry into the bungling in which private bus operators have benefited.”

He claimed that private bus operators had earned Rs 14 crore under the scheme the last time odd-even was implemented.

”Auto rickshaw operators are continuously complaining and the Delhi government wants to mislead them. In this situation they are fighting for their rights and Mr Kejriwal government is indulging in low-grade politics,” he said.

Mr Upadhyay challenged Mr Kejriwal that if he is confident about public support on odd-even, then he should run the scheme without the penalty of Rs 2,000 for seven days.
