Rs 9.8-crore bridge to ease traffic in Trilokpuri

Trilokpuri in east Delhi is set to get a facelift, as a new bridge will provide it instant connectivity with the Noida Link Road. Construction of the Rs 9.8-crore bridge is likely to be completed by the end of this year.
The bridge aims to decongest the existing roads between Trilokpuri and Mayur Vihar Phase - I that falls right beside the Noida Link Road. Ever since under-construction Pink Line of the Delhi Metro tore through the Trilokpuri road, it is choked with traffic.
“The situation will not improve even when the Metro line becomes operational. Another Metro station is coming up in Mayur Vihar Phase - I, besides the existing Metro station on the Blue Line. It will add more traffic burden on the road. In future, there will be also issues related to parking,” a public works department official said.
Work on the bridge project began after deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia laid its foundation stone in December. Claiming that the work is going on in full swing, local AAP leader Ratnesh Gupta said: “We are hoping that the bridge will be ready by November or December this year. In a way, it will be our New Year’s gift to the people. Residents of Trilokpuri, Kalyanpuri, Patparganj, Mayur Vihar, Phases I and II will benefit from this project.”
After construction of the third phase of Barapullah elevated project, people of Trilokpuri and adjoining areas will have even better access to areas in south Delhi, the PWD official said. Under the third phase of extension, a new Yamuna bridge has been proposed to connect Mayur Vihar with the INA Market.
“Last year, the deputy CM directed the city government officials to get the required approvals for the bridge, as people for long had been demanding better connectivity,” Mr Gupta said.
