A gang of armed robbers struck at a jewellery shop in Rohini and decamped with ornaments worth Rs 1.5 crore on Tuesday afternoon, the police said.
There seems to be confusion over the exact amount of gold stolen from the shop as the owner of the jewellery shop alleged that the robbers had escaped with gold worth Rs 3 crore.
The robbers arrived a white Swift Dzire at 4 pm and entered the shop as ordinary customers. “The owner of the shop and a salesperson were present when the robbers entered the jewellery shop. Right after entering the shop, two of the accused took out the-ir pistols and pointed them at the owner and his salesperson and asked them to keep quiet or else they wo-uld shoot,” said the police.
The accused then asked the shop owner, identified as Harish Shahi, to show them the lockers where gold was kept. They went inside and stuffed gold jewellery in their bags. “The robbers stole 2.7 kg of gold and then ran to their car and escaped from the area,” said the police.
After the robbers fled, the shop owner immediately informed the cops and lo-cals. The police came to the spot to take the statement of eyewitnesses and the victims.
