Resolution on clubbing of MPLADS funds passed
A private members’ “amended” resolution was passed on Friday by the Delhi Assembly for use inside cooperative housing societies of MPLADS funds along with area development funds of MLAs and councillors amidst back and forth between the ruling AAP and the Opposition BJP.
After the original resolution was moved by Opposition leader Vijender Gupta seeking use in cooperative housing societies of funds apportioned under MLA local area development and that for councillors, AAP MLA Nitin Tyagi moved the amendments to the same.
Taking part in the discussion, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said that the government, through an order dated November 16, had already made it possible for MLAs to use funds inside housing societies.
“I do not understand why Guptaji had to bring a resolution for something that has already been done,” he said.Put on the back foot, Mr Gupta claimed that the order was passed following a proposal that he had moved on November 8.
“You have passed the order today (Friday), but are showing it on a back date,” he charged.Subsequently, Laxmi Nagar MLA Tyagi moved an amendment to Mr Gupta’s resolution seeking the inclusion of MP area development funds for the same purpose. The amended resolution was then passed by the House.
