Police constable hit by speeding BMW at police picket
A Delhi police constable was severely injured after a speeding BMW car rammed the barricade he was manning in south-east Delhi’s Nizamuddin area late on Saturday night.
According to the police, the incident took place at about 1.30 am on Sunday when four policemen — sub-inspector Narender, head constable Rajender and constables Jagvir and Sant Ram — were stationed at a daily police picket at Lajpat Rai Marg near Niz-amuddin. “Suddenly a spe-eding car came towards the picket and before any pol-ice officer could signal him to stop it rammed into the barricade,” said the police, adding, “Sant Ram, who was standing next to the barricade, was hit as well.”
The police said that the driver fled the spot soon af-ter the incident with his car. Sant Ram was rushed to the hospital where he was released after medication.
The cops said that some body parts of the car were found from the spot from which it is clear that the car was a BMW. Investigating officials said that they are scrutinising the CCTV footages around the area to get a clue about the car.
