Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the “run for unity” on Saturday at Rajpath on the occasion of 140th birth anniversary of country’s first home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The authorities are making special arrangements for the event. On security, the Delhi police said that anti-sabotage checks are being conducted in government offices near Rajpath. The office buildings in the area will have to be vacated after working hours on Friday, so that rooms are sealed after regular anti-sabotage checks are completed, according to a government communiqué to all the ministries.

The buildings to be sealed include South Block, North Block, Rail Bhavan, CSIR Building, Krishi Bhavan, Shastri Bhavan, National Archives and Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, among others. National Media Centre, Niti Aayog, RBI, Sardar Patel Bhavan, Shram Shakti Bhavan, Hutment (MoD Office), Dalhousie Road and Krishna Menon Marg, DRDO Bhavan, Vayu Bhavan, Sena Bhavan, Udyog Bhavan, Nirman Bhavan, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan and National Museum, among others will also be closed. These office buildings would be closed on Friday after working hours until 9.30 am on Saturday, the order said. The Prime Minister had last year dedicated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as “Iron Man of India,” as the National Unity Day.
