One person was killed and several others were injured when a speeding SUV overturned and hit a family in northeast Delhi’s Khajoori Khas area on Thursday.
The incident was reported at around 8.15 pm when a speeding Scorpio car lost balance at a speed breaker.The car overturned, skidded for a few metres and ended up hitting a family doing their evening prayers at pavement nearby, said the police.
Locals called up the police and the injured persons, including the driver of the car, were rushed to a hospital, where one person — whose identity could not be ascertained yet — was declared brought dead, said the police.
One of the injured persons was also reported to be in a critical condition, the police said Quick response teams under the district administration were also rushed to the spot to help the victims, said an official.
A case has been registered for rash driving and causing death by negligence, and investigation has been taken up, police added.
