Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday alleged that the Delhi police had “orchestrated” the February 17 incident at the Patiala house court complex in which JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar and journalists were beaten up and demanded action against police chief B.S. Bassi.

Mr Sisodia’s accusations came after JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar told a Supreme Court-appointed probe panel that he was beaten up by men in lawyers’ robes before the police.

“The police was only partner in the whole incident that day and did nothing to prevent the attack at the Pataila House court complex... The police orchestrated the incident,” the deputy chief minister told reporters here.

Referring to a report submitted to the court over the JNU incident, he said, 800 police personnel were present at the time of the incident in which women journalists were also misbehaved with.

“Despite deployment of 800 cops at the court complex, how could such an incident take place In the video, senior police officers of New Delhi Range are being seen but they are doing nothing to prevent this incident,” Mr Sisiodia alleged.
