He said the new training schools for teachers will offer four-year integrated BA-B.Ed. after Class 12 and two-year post-graduate programmes namely M.Ed., MA in Education, MA in Early Childhood Education. The school will also offer Ph.D. programme and three-year B.Ed.-M.Ed. after masters. “I’m sure it would be the Best in India,” Mr Sisodia said on Twitter.
According to Mr Sisodia, who is also city’s education minister, the new school will have evening and weekend classes, and summer and winter sessions for diploma, degree and certificate programmes in education. “The TTS would not only prepare excellent teachers but also prepare Teacher Educators under 3 Yr B.Ed-MEd after masters,” Mr Sisodia said in another tweet. The school will also focus on areas like faculty research, resource development, translation of resources, he said. For serving teachers, the school will run in-service certificate, diploma and degree programmes for serving teachers.
He said the teachers’ training school would also prepare training material for teachers and professionals in English, Hindi and other Indian langua-ges. “Delhi govt’s Teachers Training School aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice in Education,” he tweeted.
The Delhi government earlier in April had decided to send public school teachers for training programme at the National Institute of Education in Singapore. The government has allocated Rs 102 crore for international training of principals and teachers in the Budget for current fiscal.
