Days after the AAP alleged corruption in construction of Rani Jhansi Road grade separator, the BJP-ruled North Delhi Municipal Corporation refuted the charges levelled against it.
NDMC Leader of House Vijay Prakash Pandey said laxity on part of the Delhi government in land acquisition and paying compensation were the main reasons for delay in construction of the Rani Jhansi grade separator.
AAP leader Dilip Pandey had recently alleged that the civic body was involved in corruption in allotment of sanitation work in three of its hospitals and in construction of Rani Jhansi grade separator. The NDMC Leader of House said the Delhi government wanted to mislead the citizens of Delhi by spreading false information.
The NDMC leader said the cost and construction period of Rani Jhansi grade separator had increased not because of corruption but due to difficulties being faced in land acquisition, relocation, litigation, enhanced compensation and shifting of religious structures. “The construction cost of Rani Jhansi grade separator still remains Rs 93.84 crore. The main reasons of cost and time overrun are delay in land acquisition for the project which done by the Delhi government. The cost of exchange of land has increased from Rs 70 crore originally to Rs 524 crore, out of which approximately Rs 111 crore has been paid and Rs 413 crore is still required,” clarified Mr Pandey.
