Municipal bodies meet to discuss disease control

An intersectoral coordination committee meeting for prevention and control of diseases was called on Wednesday to review the status of “vector-borne diseases and participation of intersectoral partner departments for prevention and control of dengue and chikungunya in the national capital”. In the meeting, it was decided that all the stakeholders will work in coordination to control the spread of diseases.

A senior officer said that the meeting discussed improved coordination between the NDMC and other civic agencies of Delhi for prevention and control of vector-borne diseases.

“Various issues related to proper and timely waste management to avoid collection of water in disposable plastic material, desilting of drains, provision of lids and repair of overhead tanks in government office complexes and residential colonies, provision of emergency beds in hospitals, control of mosquito breeding in tyres at all DTC bus depots and workshops were discussed,” he added.

The meeting was chaired by North Delhi Municipal Corporation additional co-mmissioner (health) Pank-aj Kumar Singh and attended by concerned officials of various government agencies such as the DDA, Public Works Department, flood and irrigation department, Delhi Jal Board, CPWD, Delhi fire service and DMRC, apart from senior official of NDMC’s health department.
