A 6-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour, who was arrested within hours of the incident, in southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, the police said on Friday.
A 6-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour, who was arrested within hours of the incident, in southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, the police said on Friday. The girl, who lives in Sangam Vihar, was allegedly abducted on Thursday when she was at a deserted place. The accused then took her to his room. The sudden abduction startled the girl, who started crying and this attracted some attention. The accused somehow managed to make her quiet and took her to his room, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her, said a senior police officer.
The girl managed to escape and complained to the locals. The accused fled from his room but was noticed by the locals who chased and caught him. The accused was then handed over to the police.
A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and relevant sections of IPC has been registered and further investigation is on, the police officer added.
