A five-year-old boy, studying in nursery, died after accidently falling into an MCD school sewage tank in Southwest Delhi’s Kapashera area on Wednesday morning, said the police. The tank, located inside the school premises, had its lid open when the boy fell into it.
“Ankit was playing in the premises of a MCD primary school in Kapashera when he accidently slipped into the tank, as its cover was opened,’’ said R.A. Sanjeev, deputy commissioner of police.
Seeing the boy falling into the tank, a crowd gathered around it. However, nobody could gather courage to enter in it, said the police. After some time, a labourer, Ram Singh, jumped into the tank in a bid to save the boy’s life.
Ankit was taken to Columbia Asia Hospital in Gurgaon for treatment where he was declared brought dead.
