Located few metres away from the Prime Minister’s residence, the Race Course Metro station will soon be known as Lok Kalyan Marg station in line with the recent renaming of the iconic British-era road in posh Lutyens’ Delhi.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday initiated the process in this regard as per the Centre’s directive. The first visible change will be in the form of new station name boards, the DMRC said.
The whole process will take some time as the new name will have to be feeded into the metro’s internal software that controls the digital boards and the announcement system in stations and trains.
The Race Course Road was named after the Delhi Race Course, part of the Delhi Race Club, which was established in 1940.
