The Delhi University’s second cut-off list, released late on Monday night, witnessed a marginal decline of 0.5 per cent to 1.5 per cent in all the available courses.
According to varsity officials, there is only a marginal dip in the second cut-off list in order to avoid additional admissions due to few number of seats left in all the colleges. Admissions to some courses like history, sociology, B.Sc. life sciences have been closed as the seats were filled up in most of the collges in the first cut-off itself.
As per university rules, if a student fits the cut-off criteria, they cannot be denied admission due to which a college is required to enrol more students compared to the actual number of seats available in several courses.
Ramjas College, which had declared the highest academic cut-off for B.Com. (Hons) at 99.25 per cent in the first list, has dropped it to 97.75 per cent for the same subject in the second cut-off list. Shri Ram College of Commerce has fixed B.A. (Hons) economics at 97.75 per cent and B.Com. (Hons) at 97.5 per cent in the second cut-off list. The percentages were 98.25 and 98 respectively, in the first cut-off list.
In the South Campus, Lady Sri Ram College for Women declared 97.5 per cent for both English (Hons) and economics (Hons) as compared to 98.25 for English and 98 per cent for economics in the first cut-off list. Sri Venkateswara College and Gargi College kept 97.5 per cent and 96.25 per cent as the highest cut-off for economics (Hons).
Meanwhile, the varsity issued a tentative admission schedule for extracurricular activities (ECA) category. Preliminary trials would be held from July 7 till July 13. The sports trials concluded on July 2.
“The university reserves the right to change modify this tentative schedule (ECA) without assigning any reason,“ the university said. The DU is yet to notify the identified colleges and time of the ECA trials, like the sports trials schedule.
The trials will be held at two levels — preliminary and final. Shortlisting of candidates will be based on the final trials scheduled from July 15 to July 18.
