A man was allegedly caught red-handed by some locals while trying to dispose of the body of his 15-year-old sister-in-law in southeast Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area in the early hours of Saturday.
A man was allegedly caught red-handed by some locals while trying to dispose of the body of his 15-year-old sister-in-law in southeast Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area in the early hours of Saturday.
The man has claimed that the girl committed suicide by hanging after a heated argument as he and his wife were unable to buy her a new dress because of lack of money.
The man told the police that the advice to dispose off the body was given by the contractor of the building where he worked with his wife and the girl because the contractor feared that the under-construction building would be seized.
Police have detained the man and are questioning him, his wife and the contractor. An investigator said that while the man’s claims come across as genuine, they were still probing the case.
The man had carried the girl’s body in a sack to an isolated spot. But it was while he was trying to dispose of the body that some locals noticed him and restrained him before informing the police.
A case has been registered and the police is looking for the contractor, who is absconding, The body has been sent for a post-mortem.
