An 88-year-old man and his 55-year-old daughter were found murdered at their house in North Delhi’s Shastri Nagar on Thursday morning.

A senior police official said that they got a call in this respect at around 10 am that two persons, including a woman, were lying dead at a house in the area.

A police team from the local police station was immediately sent to the spot. The deceased were identified as Hari Kishan Verma and his daughter Rajbala.

“Rajbala has been staying at her father’s house since 2003 after her divorce. On Thursday morning, Arvind, who is Hari’s youngest son, reached the house and discovered the incident. He found Rajbala lying unconscious in the kitchen of the house. He panicked when he entered another room of the house and found that his father too was lying unconscious. He called the PCR after which Rajbala and Hari were rushed to a nearby hospital where both were declared brought dead,” a senior police official said.

The police official said that Rajbala had injury marks on her face while Hari had no injury marks. “The valuables kept in the house were found intact. We suspect that they were smothered to death with the help of a pillow. There were no signs of scuffle between the assailants and the victims. We suspect a personal enmity over the property dispute to be the reason behind the incident,” the police said.

The police have also procured footage of two CCTVs and seem to have a clue about the assailants.

However, the senior police officials were tight lipped over the matter.
