A man was arrested by the Delhi police for allegedly sexually assaulting a nine-year-old Class 5 student in Sarita Vihar, southeast Delhi.
The girl, a student of a government school, also lives in the area along with her family. She was playing outside her house when the accused took her to an isolated place on the pretext of giving her some eatables. “He then forced himself on her. When the victim opposed his attempt, the accused threatened her of dire consequences. The victim somehow reached her home and narrated the whole incident to her parents,” the police said.
Her neighbours gathered at the spot and they beat up the accused and they handed over the man to the police. The victim underwent a medical test at a government hospital that established she was sexually assaulted. “We have arrested the accused after lodging a case in this respect. The accused was remanded to 14 days in judicial custody by a court,” the police said.
In another incident, a man was arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Dwarka, southwest Delhi. The girl’s parents, who live in Sector 23, approached the police when they realised their daughter was pregnant.
“The accused, Dharambir, lived in her neighbourhood and had been raping her for a long time. The victim did not disclose anything to her parents as she was afraid. On Monday, the girl’s mother got suspicious when she found her condition was not good and she was vomiting. She took her to a nearby hospital and was shocked to know that she was pregnant,” the police said. The girl told her parents that the accused had threatened her not to reveal the incident to anyone. The girl’s parents called the police after which a case was lodged and the accused was arrested.
