Major fire at commercial building, no casualties

A major fire broke out in the 10th floor of a building in northwest Delhi’s Netaji Subhas Place area on Sunday evening.
There were no immediate reports of casualties as 15 fire engines and ambulances were rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control within an hour.
Divisional fire officer Rajesh Pawar said that the fire was reported 4.30 pm. Immediately 15 fire engines were rushed to the spot and fire was controlled with an hour.
The fire broke out on the 10th floor of multistorey building called Pearls Business Park building in Netaji Subhas Place, which houses offices and restaurants.
The incident came to light when security guards saw smoke billowing from a ventilation panel on the 10th floor of the building and raised an alarm. The fire was found to have originated in an office.
A probe has been ordered in the case to find out exact cause of fire incident, the official added.
“As it was Sunday, most of the offices situated in the building were closed. No casualties were reported,” said the official.
During the fire operation, all cars parked in the parking lot of the building were moved away and nearyby buildings had to be evacuated.
The fire, whose exact cause is yet to be ascertained, started from a tenth floor office and soon spread to the other floors.
No fire fighter could go inside so two skylift machines, had to be deployed. It took fire fighters over three hours to douse the flame.
