Lieutenant-Governor shifts health official as rift with AAP govt widens

Delhi lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung has stripped senior bureaucrat Tarun Seem of his charge as the director general of health services, a move that comes at a time when the Aam Aadmi Party government is miffed with the L-G over bureaucratic reshuffles ordered by him.

Mr Seem was piloting the government’s ambitious “mohalla cilinic” scheme since October last year. As per a government order issued after the L-G’s nod, Mr Seem was relieved of his “temporary” charge on Friday.

“Dr Tarun Seem, presently looking after the charge of director general of health services on temporary basis, is relieved of his charge as DGHS with immediate effect,” the order issued by the department of health and family welfare said.

Sources said the senior official was pulled up for delay in printing of information and education material for awareness about malaria, dengue and chikungunya.

However, Mr Seem on Saturday denied the allegation, saying “his record has been without a fault”.

He is currently in-charge of Delhi State Health Mission.

“Dr Beena Khurana, CMO (SAG), shall look after the charge till a regular incumbent is posted,” the order further stated.
