The principal’s office at Delhi University’s Kirori Mal College (KMC) was vandalised allegedly by members of university’s students union on Tuesday. The Delhi police has registered a case of vandalism against Delhi University Student Union (Dusu) vice-president Sunny Dhedha and unknown persons. According to KMC principal Dinesh Khattar, the Dusu members have been approaching the college authority since last week for hiring of college ground for a cultural event being organised by the student union. “On grounds of renovation we had expressed our inability to do so. Today Dusu V-P Dhedha, along with 40 other students, came to my office and vandalised the premises following which I had to call the police. The incident is also recorded in CCTV cameras installed in my office, footage of which was taken by the police,” said Prof. Khattar.

Mr Dhedha, however, denied the allegations of vandalism, saying he went to KMC just for discussion with the principal. “Me or my fellows did not indulge into any vandalism act. We just went for peaceful negotiations and came back when the principal refused,” said Mr Dhedha. The police has registered a case of vandalism against Mr Dhedha and unknown persons. “An FIR has been registered against one Sunny Dhedha and several unnamed persons under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. Investigation is underway,” said deputy commissioner of police (north) Madhur Verma.
